Aims to enhance programmes and perspectives on child development. National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development generally called as NIPPCD. It is an autonomous organization under the administrative jurisdiction of the Department of Women and Child Development, Ministry of Human Resource Development. The Bangalore branch of NIPCCD organizes training in child development for government personnel and NGOs of the southern states. It initiates research, documentation and dissemination in the area of child development, and has a library of publications on child development. It is the apex body for training and monitoring of the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) programme. As the Secretariat for the National Children's Fund it helps voluntary agencies implement child development projects. NIPCCD is listed under the category- Child Development/Organizations and it was established in the year 1980. Focuses on child development, training, library, Integrated Child Development Services, resource centre. functions at the Local, State, National level and it works with children, women.
While the activities of the institute have expanded to promote voluntary action, research, training and documentation in the overall domain of Women and Child Welfare, it was initially started to train the top-and middle-level functionaries of the ICDS programme. It is the apex body for training of ICDS functionaries. It has the responsibility of planning, coordinating and monitoring the training, designing, revising and standardizing of curriculum for all categories of functionaries; and preparing, procuring and distributing training material and aids. NIPCCD is not involved in training the anganwadi workers; but is involved in training the trainers, supervisors and child development project officers. Training Apart from the ICDS programme, the institute conducts customized training programmes for various organizations at their request.
Research NIPPCD has undertaken many research and evaluation studies.
NIPPCD is also a member of the Karnataka State Training Task Force that has been created to monitor and evaluate the ICDS training component. UNICEF has identified the Bangalore centre as the nodal agency to formulate the policy framework on ECCD (Early Child Care and Development) for implementation in the southern states. Since its mandate is to work towards public cooperation, NIPCCD works in close contact with a number of organizations. It is a member of the BPNI (Breastfeeding Promotion Network of India and has been the secretariat for the Karnataka chapter of the Network on Information on Parenting (NIP).
