Preface
This book presents various topics like challenges of building smart cities and financial aspects of smart city scheme and employment generation, infrastructural development, information technology and urban development.

Smart cities play a crucial role in the development of a new India.Today, the smart city is a red hot topic on the urban strategy of governments all over the country. Humanity faces a variety of problems due to the increasing population, including food, water and energy shortage, crowded cities, environmental destruction and global warming.
Small and medium sized cities have a lower income than the mega cities and thus dependency on private modes of transport is comparatively lesser.

With the introduction of a new mission, 100 smart cities and 500 cities in India will be rejuvenated and transformed.

The smart city issue is complex because it straddles several domains, from the city’s physical capital to its intellectual and social capital. City planning is not just a question of urban design, but also brings into play social studies, political science, and economics.

The contents are planned in a systematic and a logical sequence to understand the subject with ease. It is presented in simple and self-understanding style. This book is meant for all engineering and management students of various universities and colleges.
