Shobha Pages : XII+282=294 We are living in a world where temperatures are rising, water is scarce, energy expensive, food supplies uncertain and the gap between rich and poor increasing. With these problems the economy may not grow well unless increasing industrial output through sustainable way. In the most fundamental sense, there are only two ways of increasing the output of any business organisation and economy: One: increase the number of inputs that go into the productive process, Two: think of the new ways of getting more output from the same number of inputs. In the global business environment anyone who wants to compete and continue in the market has to adopt second way i.e., thinking innovatively and enhance measurable value in any commercial activity. This process may be a breakthrough or incremental and it may occur systematically in a company or sporadically it may be achieved by: introducing new or improved goods services and/or; implementing new or improved operational processes and/or; implementing new or improved organizational/ managerial processes. At present and future, innovation is emerging as a key driver. World leaders acknowledging that innovation will be the well-spring of economic development in the 21st Century, since innovation is the only way to improve quality of product, competitiveness and plays a key role in the achievement of organisational goals. Innovation generates economic value and new jobs. It may be relating to new business models, entrepreneurship, agricultural finance, higher education and delivering services. So, Innovation acts as the Engine for Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development We at the Tumkur University have been brainstorming over the above issues for a long time. We struck on an idea of organising a national conference that would help bring learned people on a platform to deliberate on the above issues. We coined “Innovation – An Engine for Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development” to be the main theme and broke it down to five sub-themes as follows:
We decided February 12th& 13th 2015 as the days for holding the Conference. We invited papers from academicians from across the country and the response has been encouraging. The sub-theme Inclusive business models has received highest number of papers. We are happy to bring out this volume that contains papers presented at the Conference. The papers are illuminating and contain valuable inputs for researchers, executives, policy makers, and politicians. This conference would not have been possible without support from University Authorities. We thank the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. A.H. Rajasab for their support in organising the Conference. We are grateful to Prof. D.Shivalingaiah, Registrar, for having given us encouragement and support wherever needed. We are also thankful Prof. N.B. Naduvinamani, Registrar (Evn.) for their support in organising the Conference. We would like to thank the Key note speaker; Inaugural Speaker; lead speakers, the chairpersons of the four technical sessions and participants for their valuable contributions to the success of the conference and publication of the proceedings. We are very grateful to ICSSR for providing financial support in organizing the Conference. Finally, we are very much grateful to organising committee, editorial board members and students of M.Com for their wholehearted support in successfully organising the Conference.
