Foreword
From pre Aryan times to the present, Indian women have played extraordinary roles in tending to the family  with much love and care, maintained and managed their  houses, provisioned budgets to manage and augment family income by growing flowers, fruits  and vegetables or spun cotton and silk or dyed clothes. Clothes were much demand in both India and abroad, the British who ruled India severely punished cloth makers, as their clothes could not be sold like the Indian made goods.

Much is written about these facts by authors but many have not written about Indian women’s patriotism and their sacrifices to check foreign invaders to protect our freedom and liberty. Here I have taken the opportunity to write on their patriotism, heroism and sacrifice to check foreign domination in their Kingdoms from Vedic times to the present, taking examples of Begum Hazrat Mahal, Jhansi Lakshmi Bai, Rama Bai Ambedkar, Kittur Chennamma and luminaries of modern times, who did much for the freedom of our country in the period of our struggle for Indian independence and the post Independence period.

I hope this will enlighten our readers and inspire some at least to research and write more about them.
